It is with deep regret that we announce White Star Studios Limited, the company, which
brought you The Bank Heist immersive dining experience, has entered voluntary liquidation
as of Tuesday, 7th January 2025. This decision was not made lightly and follows a series of
challenges that, despite our best efforts, became insurmountable.
In November 2024, our merchant provider, Stripe, implemented an abrupt and significant
change to our payment terms, withholding 25% of our revenue for a 90-day period. This
decision left us without access to tens of thousands of pounds of revenue that we depended
on for working capital.
Despite pursuing every possible solution—including seeking legal advice, negotiating with
Stripe, and exploring alternative funding options—we have been unable to resolve the
situation. The withholding of such a substantial portion of our revenue, combined with the
inability to quickly transition to another payment processor, has now left us unable to
continue operating.
Refunds for Customers and Creditors
Unfortunately, the financial impact of these circumstances has brought the company to a
standstill. While there are company funds currently withheld by Stripe, our merchant
provider, these remain inaccessible to us, creating a shortfall that means we are unable to
fully refund all customers and creditors.
It is currently unclear how Stripe will prioritise the release of withheld funds. Therefore, we
strongly recommend that ticket holders seek a refund through their bank. You can do this by:
- Using Section 75 of the Consumer Rights Act if your tickets were purchased via
credit card. - Requesting a Bank Chargeback if your tickets were purchased using a debit card.
For creditors or suppliers owed payment, further details regarding the liquidation process will
be made available by the appointed liquidators in due course.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported White Star Studios
during our journey and know that we did everything possible to try and save the business.
This is not the outcome we had envisioned, and this outcome deeply saddens us.
This is an incredibly difficult situation for everyone involved and you’re understanding and
patience during this challenging time is greatly appreciated.
